Exercise: Game of Tag, Part 1

Many times we’ll want to move the character with the keys (i.e. up, down, left & right). We can use the piece shown below.

There are still a few things on the Scratch user interface that you probably haven’t used yet.

You can change the direction you sprite is facing in another way too.

First you go to the sprite area under the stage (the area in the red square).


Next you have to click the (info) button in the top left corner of the sprite icon.

Experiment with the rotation controls shown below and make sure you understand the behavior of each. These will probably come in handy at some point!

Finally – make a character move around based upon the keys that you’ve pressed.

You’ll need to use one of the rounded “top block” pieces; an example is shown below. These scripts can respond to key presses, just like how the green flag can start a script.

You used these same pieces when you made your Electric Keyboard.
